Please read these terms carefully before using our service.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using our service, you agree to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our service.
2. Description of Services
Legitym is a legal information platform. It lets you: - analyse a legal situation with the help of artificial intelligence; - look up French Court of Cassation decisions and code articles, on the site or from a compatible assistant (Claude connector); - prepare documents (letters, formal notices); - be put in touch with a lawyer registered with a French bar. Legitym is not a law firm and does not give legal advice. Features may change; some are free within the stated limits (for example 20 requests per day for the Claude connector).
3. Connecting with a lawyer
The client describes their case; Legitym forwards it to lawyers who may handle it. A client account's first connection is free; later ones are charged at the prices shown when the request is made. For lawyers, accepting a case uses 1 credit; the first accepted case is free. Credits are sold individually or in packs. This is a flat participation and never depends on the fees agreed between the lawyer and the client. The lawyer alone is responsible for their advice, their fees and their professional rules. Legitym takes no part in the lawyer-client relationship.
4. User Accounts
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and password. You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized access.
5. Payment Terms
Paid subscriptions are billed in advance and can be cancelled at any time, effective at the end of the current period. Consumers have a 14-day withdrawal right on an unused subscription; fully delivered one-off services are non-refundable (see the refund policy). Prices may change with 30 days notice.
6. Artificial Intelligence
Legitym uses artificial intelligence to analyze legal situations. AI-generated results are provided for informational purposes only and do not constitute legal advice. The accuracy of legal articles, case law, and analyses cannot be guaranteed. The user is responsible for verifying all information before using it in any legal proceeding. Legitym shall not be held liable for any decision made based on AI-generated content without independent verification by a qualified legal professional.
7. Data Processing
Your legal data is processed by AI systems to provide analysis and recommendations. Data is processed in accordance with GDPR and applicable privacy regulations. We do not share your case data with third parties except as necessary to provide the service. You may request deletion of all your data at any time via your account settings.
8. User Content
You remain the owner of the content you upload. By uploading it, you allow Legitym to process it, including with AI, solely to provide the service. Documents are encrypted in transit and at rest. You can delete them at any time.
9. Prohibited Activities
You may not use our service for illegal activities, spam, malware distribution, or any activity that violates others' rights.
10. Reuse of Content and Text and Data Mining
The official texts reproduced on Legitym (codes, court decisions) come from Légifrance and the Cour de cassation: they remain reusable under the Etalab 2.0 Open Licence. The selection, arrangement and enrichment of that data — decisions linked to articles, summaries, the lawyer directory — form a database protected by Articles L341-1 et seq. of the French Intellectual Property Code, and the summaries written by Legitym are protected by copyright. Under Article L122-5-3 of the same code, Legitym reserves its rights against text and data mining of its content for purposes other than scientific research. This reservation is expressed in machine-readable form: the tdm-reservation HTTP header and the /.well-known/tdmrep.json file. Permitted, provided Legitym is credited with a link to the source page: search engines and AI assistants expressly admitted by our robots.txt file. Extracting or reusing a substantial part of the lawyer directory is prohibited. For any other reuse: contact@legitym.com.
11. Termination
We may terminate or suspend your account at any time for violations of these terms. You may cancel your account at any time.
12. Disclaimer of Warranties
We do our best to keep the service available and accurate, but cannot guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. This clause does not limit the statutory guarantees that consumers enjoy.
13. Limitation of Liability
Legitym is not liable for indirect damage arising from use of the service, nor for decisions taken solely on the basis of AI-generated content without review by a legal professional. This limitation does not apply to gross negligence or wilful misconduct, to personal injury, or where the law forbids it towards consumers.
14. Changes to Terms
We may change these terms. For any significant change, registered users are notified by email at least 30 days in advance; they may close their account before it takes effect if they do not accept it.
15. Governing law, mediation and disputes
These terms are governed by French law. If a problem arises, please first write to contact@legitym.com so we can look for an amicable solution. If that written complaint does not resolve it, consumers may refer the matter free of charge to our consumer mediator: CM2C (Centre de la Médiation de la Consommation de Conciliateurs de Justice), 49 rue de Ponthieu, 75008 Paris, France — https://www.cm2c.net. Failing an amicable solution, disputes fall under the competent courts according to ordinary rules; a consumer may always bring proceedings before the courts of their place of residence.
